The Musculoskeletal Division of the George Institute for International Health has some exciting opportunities for research training at the PhD, Masters and Honours levels.
The Division’s research themes are back pain, contracture, ageing & osteoarthritis. The division also hosts the Centre for Evidence-Based Physiotherapy and the PEDro database.
We have opportunities for PhD students and research assistants to work on a number of projects including:
- An RCT of a new exercise based treatment for chronic whiplash (jointly with CONROD)
- An RCT of glucosamine/chondroitin for osteoarthritis of the knee An RCT of rehabilitation following knee replacement
- An observational study of risk factors for recurrence of low back pain
- A diagnostic study developing clinical tests to identify discogenic low back pain
- An RCT of paracetamol for acute low back pain
