Reseach and Development Advisory Committee

The Research and Development Advisory Committee (RADAC) is an independent body, constituted by and providing advice to the Board of Directors of The George Institute.

Membership

The membership of RADAC comprises researchers of national and/or international standing with expertise/experience in at least some of the issues outlined above.

The Committee meets biannually to review the Institute’s activities, through:

  • a full-day open symposium that showcases the research and development activities of the Institute to RADAC and invited guests
  • a full-day closed session, with senior staff of the Institute, to review in greater depth the current and planned activities of the Institute
  • a presentation to the Institute Board of the Committee's views and recommendations regarding the future research and development activities of the Institute.

Specifically, RADAC members are invited to:

  1. Provide an independent assessment of the scope, content and quality of The Institute’s research and development activities, within the context of the Institute’s mission and strategic plan
  2. Provide advice in relation to current, medium- and long-term issues facing The Institute.

    Currently these issues include:

    • Managing growth - determining the appropriate balance between growth and consolidation
    • Ensuring the appropriate balance between academic freedom and the need to work within a quality framework
    • Enabling the Institute and its staff to pursue personal research interests and activities while working within a defined, agreed mission
    • Achieving an appropriate balance between surplus generating research activities and non-surplus generating activities
    • Maximising the impact and translation of our work with key stakeholders
    • Working and facilitating research capacity development within different cultures
