Enrolling in your PhD
The main steps for students intending to apply for candidature in a postgraduate research degree are:
- Deciding on a topic (this can be done in consultation with your supervisor);
- Selecting a supervisor;
- Applying to the University for admission to a research degree;
- Applying for any scholarships, stipends, awards or other funding
Most postgraduate research students at The George Institute are enrolled at the University of Sydney, through the School of Public Health in the Faculty of Medicine.

Scholarships
The George Institute is generally unable to provide scholarships or funding to individual students. Students are encouraged to apply for scholarships and seek sponsorship to ensure adequate financial support for the period of their studies.
