This significant change in status reflects the Institute’s continued significant commitment to working in China and in particular is commitment to building local capacity. China has always been a focus of the Institute’s health research, being of interest due to its enormous population and the health challenges it faces in becoming one of the leading world economies. This aim includes initiating and supporting policy development to ensure that clinical and population-based health research is effectively translated into practice. |
